This is my example of a good map. I was looking for maps of the Caribbean since I really like vacationing there. I came upon this map of the University of the West Indies at St. Augustine. This appears to be a map you could use to find your way around the campus. The buildings are numbered with a legend to identify them and color coding. I think this is a good map for the intended audience which I am assuming is new students and parents!

Bad Map

Although this map contains many of the items necessary for a good map - legend, north arrow, scale - I chose it as a bad map because it is very difficult to read and locate the relevant information. This map was in a report and power point presentation I had to review. I found there was too much information on the map that didn't relate to the topic. The reader had to wade through a lot of non pertinent data to get to what the author was trying to depict.

Marian's Mental Map

Well, I finally got this map to work! As you can see, I would like to stay in the south. Having grown up in Ohio, I find the weather in the winter way too cold for my now Florida blood! I have family in Texas, Florida and Virginia so those would be good places to be. I have lived in the Carolinas and they are beautiful.
